Alex and Carissa are proud Fort Scott locals, born and raised right here in the community they now serve. The restaurant industry runs deep in their story. Alex has spent the past 15 years helping his parents operate Nu Grille — the iconic 1940s burger joint that’s been a hometown favorite for generations. His experience, work ethic, and passion for classic comfort food all grew from those early days behind the counter.
Carissa began her career as a teacher, specializing in culinary arts and entrepreneurship. After years of guiding students and helping young people discover their own passions, she felt called to step away from education and pour her knowledge into the restaurant world. Her background in food, business, and hospitality became the perfect complement to Alex’s hands-on experience.
Together, they’ve built their restaurants around the values they grew up with — community, hospitality, hard work, and great food made with care. Whether serving Fort Scott families, supporting local events, or partnering with nearby businesses, Alex and Carissa are committed to strengthening the place they call home.
Their goal is simple:
create food people love, offer service that feels like family, and build spaces that bring the community together.

Hannah is a Uniontown High School graduate with over 10 years of restaurant experience. Her strong work ethic, leadership, and passion for hospitality make her an essential part of our team.
Hannah helps ensure smooth daily operations, supports our staff, and creates a welcoming experience for every guest. We’re proud to have her leading our team with dedication, professionalism, and a genuine love for the industry.
